Who is Behind the Canvas?

Well, first of all, Behind this Canvas is someone who certainly does not have life all together. But, I've come to realise not many do. So, a welcome from one of the many who are scraping through life, trying to messily piece all parts together but sometimes (or most of the time) randomly placing things in a very haphazard, chaotic way hoping they will stick.

I wished to start this page to share some moments from the less than perfect sides of life. Having struggled with anorexia from my early teen years, there have been many... I am now in recovery, though it is an uphill battle every day, as other fighters of this illness will sadly know all to well. I hope to debunk some of the myths around mental health, anorexia and other areas of life. Please note, I am nowhere near qualified to give advice, so take everything I say with a pinch of salt! Or, one monitored sachet of salt if needs be. Additionally, though I never will mention weight, exact numbers or calories, please do not read if you are in a vulnerable position to triggers. Stories are told in a light-hearted way, and I hope to additionally share some ways in which I have managed my struggle over the years.

The name of my blog was also inspired by my passion and love for art. I currently study illustration, rediscovering my love for all artistic pursuits through dark times where it was sometimes the only thing that gave me a sense of purpose and mental escape. I plan to share hand-drawn colouring pages which readers can download, or little arty activities which I have found helpful!

A brief introduction, but a big hello and reminder that you are not alone! Hang on in there and, if of interest, please do keep an eye on this page for rambling tales of the absurd, healthier coping mechanisms and maybe a dog photo or too. Dogs help everything.
